And It Was So is part of my earlier Songs of Creation collection, a body of work inspired by the creation story in Genesis.

While much of this collection began at my grandma's dining room table, this particular painting came a little later. Inspired by the work I had begun there, I created it here in my studio while teaching this textured landscape technique in a class.

Layers of land and water move through the painting, with streams and waterfalls finding their way through the landscape and gathering below.

It is a small piece of a season when I was not only discovering a new way of creating, but beginning to share that process with others.

For a short time, And It Was So is being offered in its original form as part of To Be… or Not to Be: A Rare Studio Offering.

If it finds a home, this little piece of Songs of Creation will continue its story just as it is. If not, it may eventually find its way back to my easel and become something new.
