Creating Sanctuary in the In-Between

Creating Sanctuary in the In-Between

A six-week online creative retreat

One corner. One chair. One place to breathe.

Creating Sanctuary in the In-Between is a six-week, online creative retreat for women who live full lives ... and are longing for a quiet, intentional space inside that fullness.

This retreat is not about redesigning your home or taking on a renovation.
It’s about creating a small sanctuary ... a corner, a nook, a defined space ... where rest, faith, and creativity are allowed to live right alongside real life.

This is an invitation to slow down, create with intention, and choose rest on purpose.

Why This Retreat Exists

Most of us don’t lack purpose.
What we lack is space.

Space to sit without producing.
Space to breathe without rushing.
Space to be still ...without guilt.

We often assume that kind of space requires a spare room, a big budget, or professional help. We tell ourselves it’s something we’ll get to someday, when life is quieter.

But sometimes sanctuary isn’t about escaping life.
Sometimes it’s about choosing one small place within it ... and deciding that rest belongs there.

This retreat was created for women who want to stop waiting and start creating a space that holds calm, faith, and presence right where they are.

What You’ll Create

Over six weeks, you’ll be guided in creating a small sanctuary space inside your home using paint, repurposed pieces, and thoughtful intention.

This retreat focuses on one corner, not an entire room.

Together, we’ll work through:

  • Mindset & devotion
Giving yourself permission to take up space, slow down, and create rest ... rooted in faith and honest reflection.

  • A faux brick feature wall
Using mud and paint, you’ll learn the process over two weeks ...honoring dry time, layering, and restraint.

  • A chair and a small table or surface
Repurposed and painted to support how you want to use your sanctuary ... reading, prayer, journaling, or quiet coffee.

  • Layers, depth & accessories
Choosing art and meaningful objects that add warmth and character without clutter.

  • Exploring floor updates (optional)
Ideas and guidance will be shared, without pressure to change finished floors.

  • A Memory Box closing experience
A meaningful, faith-rooted practice that brings the retreat full circle.

This is not about perfection.
It’s about intention.

A Faith-Rooted Experience

Faith is woven naturally throughout this retreat.

Scripture, reflection, and devotion serve as quiet anchors ... not formal lessons, but invitations to notice, listen, and rest. While every sanctuary will look different, this retreat is grounded in the belief that:

  • rest is sacred

  • creativity is God-given

  • beauty belongs in everyday life

This is a grace-filled space.
There is no pressure to perform, share publicly, or get it “right.”

How the Retreat Works

  • Length: 6 weeks

  • Live Sessions: 1 live session per week (3–4 hours)

  • Platform: Google Meet

  • Replays: All sessions are recorded and available to revisit

  • Pace: Designed to honor drying time, reflection, and real life

This is a guided creative retreat, not a step-by-step watch-me-paint class.

You’ll see demonstrations, learn what to look for, receive guidance and coaching, and then work on your space between sessions at your own pace.

Weekly Flow

Week 1 . Choosing Space
Mindset and devotion. Giving yourself permission to choose space inside real life. Naming what you love, what feels calming, and what you want this corner to hold.

Week 2 . The Wall: Mud & Form
Beginning the faux brick wall using mud. Tools, materials, pattern, and application are demonstrated. Participants begin their own wall sections and allow time for drying.

Week 3 . The Wall: Paint & Patina
Painting the brick wall, building depth, aging, and softening the surface. Guidance on color, layering, and knowing when to stop. Dry time is honored as part of the process.

Week 4 . Chair & Small Table
Repurposing and painting a chair and a small table or surface. Creating pieces that feel inviting and support how you want to use your sanctuary.

Week 5 . Layers, Depth & Accessories
Bringing the space together through art, accessories, and meaningful details. Editing, restraint, and creating a space that feels lived-in rather than styled.

Week 6 . Sanctuary & Sending
Creating a Memory Box rooted in prayer or praise. The group nominates someone outside the retreat, and I create and send one Memory Box as a shared act of generosity and sending.

The Memory Box Closing Experience

In the final week, you’ll be guided in creating your own Memory Box ... a reflective practice rooted in prayer or praise.

As part of our closing, participants will nominate someone outside the retreat to receive a Memory Box, and I will create and send one as a shared act of generosity.

This is not about receiving a gift ... it’s about what is formed and then shared.
